Comme il y avait dans l'assemblée beaucoup de gens qui ne s'étaient pas sanctifiés, les Lévites se chargèrent d'immoler les victimes de la Pâque pour tous ceux qui n'étaient pas purs, afin de les consacrer à l'Eternel.

For [there were] many in the congregation that were not sanctified: therefore the Levites had the charge of the killing of the passovers for every one [that was] not clean, to sanctify [them] unto the LORD.
